Hamburg Wheelchair Open

Parallel to the final weekend of the professional women's tennis tournament at the Hamburg Rothenbaum tennis stadium, the Hamburg Wheelchair Open, an international women's wheelchair tennis tournament, will celebrate its premiere from 23 to 26 July 2026.

As a Premier Tier event, the tournament is not only one of the highest-level events in international wheelchair tennis, but it is also the largest women's wheelchair tennis tournament in Germany.

With two top international sporting events being held concurrently, the Rothenbaum is once again a true „Combined Event“. The central stage for the tournament, which will feature twelve singles players and eight doubles teams, is Matchcourt M1 at the Rothenbaum tennis complex.

That was the 1st Hamburg Wheelchair Open: Running parallel to the final weekend of the professional women's tennis tournament at the Am Rothenbaum tennis stadium in Hamburg, the Hamburg Wheelchair Open, an international women's wheelchair tennis tournament, celebrated its premiere from 23 to 26 July 2026.

The winner comes from the Netherlands and is called Lizzy de Greef. The 22-year-old clearly dominated the final on the Centre Court at Rothenbaum against her top-seeded compatriot Aniek van Koot, winning the title at the largest German women's wheelchair tennis tournament, which belongs to the Premier Tour category, with a 6:2, 6:2 victory.

„I am proud of what we have achieved here as a team! There has been so much appreciation from the female players for our dedication and the initiative to open this new chapter for an inclusive WTA and wheelchair event in Hamburg. My motivation is high to continue this in the coming years,“ summarised Niklas Höfken, Sports Director of the Hamburg Wheelchair Open.

Lizzy de Greef achieved a double in the process. Following her victory in the singles, she also claimed the doubles title at the Hamburg Wheelchair Open, winning alongside her compatriot Jinte Bos against Ksenia Chasteau (France) and Lucy Shuker (Great Britain) 6:1 and 6:4.
