Young tennis stars meet world class - European Summer Cup U16 at the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open

In July, the Rothenbaum will not only be the venue for international world-class players, but also a stage for Germany's most promising young talents: At the same time as the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open (13 to 20 July 2025), Matchmaker Sports GmbH and the German Tennis Federation have been awarded the contract to host a qualifying group of the European Summer Cup for juniors U16 from Tennis Europe - thus enabling top players of tomorrow to serve in close proximity to the current professionals at Rothenbaum.

The European Summer Cup is Europe's most traditional team competition in junior tennis. From 17 to 19 July 2025, eight European nations will meet to secure one of the coveted starting places for the European final in Mariánské Lázně (Czech Republic) - an important milestone on the way to the Billie Jean King Cup Juniors by Gainbridge Finals.

The German team will be coached by DTB national coach Jasmin Wöhr and will start with a young, highly talented trio: Tamina Kochta (15) will lead the team, supported by Emilia Carlotta Brune (16) and Francesca Parcelli (16).

"The fact that we were able to bring the Tennis Europe Summer Cup back to Hamburg after 2024 is a great opportunity for our young players to present themselves in front of a large crowd and as part of a WTA tournament," says DTB Board Member Veronika Rücker. "For many of them, it's the first time they've been able to get a taste of international tournaments in such a professional environment - a valuable experience for their sporting and personal development."

While top players like Eva Lys battle for the title of the WTA 250s tournament on centre court, the stars of tomorrow are ready and waiting on the side courts. Teams from Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Estonia, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia - and of course Germany - will be there.

The combination of world-class tennis and the promotion of young talent makes the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open 2025 a very special event - both for tennis fans and for the media landscape.

Tournament Director Sandra Reichel emphasises the importance of the junior tournament: "The fact that we can showcase both world-class tennis and the promotion of young talent at the highest level at the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open makes this event unique. The European Summer Cup gives young talents the stage they deserve. It also gives the Hamburg public the opportunity to see the stars of tomorrow."

The European Summer Cup as part of the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open is supported by Mr Claus Heinemann. "As a traditional company, it is very important to us to specifically promote young talent. The European Summer Cup as part of the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open offers young talents a great opportunity to gain experience and develop their skills. Such initiatives make a valuable contribution to young talent and the sport. We support this with full conviction," says Claus Heinemann.
