MSC Hamburg Ladies Open & EDEKA: A strong connection for women's sport in Hamburg

Loyalty creates trust! The MSC Hamburg Ladies Open and EDEKA are continuing their successful partnership at this year's professional women's tennis tournament in Hamburg, which will be held at the Rothenbaum from 13 to 20 July 2025. EDEKA has been an important partner of this tournament since 2021 and is sending a strong signal for women's sport in the Hanseatic city of Hamburg with its commitment.

As the official nutrition partner of the tournament, EDEKA is focusing on its core competences: a love of food and a varied and balanced range of food products. EDEKA will be represented in all areas with its own high-quality brands. This emphasises EDEKA's commitment to promoting healthy eating and sporting activities.

This year, the Thursday of the tournament (17 July) will be EDEKA Ladies Day, on which EDEKA will be the namesake. This special day will not only increase the visibility of women's sport, but also strengthen the community and cohesion in Hamburg. On this day, all women will receive a 15 per cent discount on their tickets in all categories and will be there live when the round of 16 matches of the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open are played.

"Sport and a balanced diet belong together. EDEKA has therefore been involved in popular and competitive sport for many years. This includes not only national partnerships, but also regional and local ones throughout Germany. At the EDEKA headquarters in Hamburg, we are also particularly keen to support sporting diversity, for example through our involvement in the Ladies Open. We are delighted to be supporting the tournament again this year as a nutrition partner," says Markus Mosa, CEO of EDEKA ZENTRALE Stiftung & Co. KG.

Tournament director Sandra Reichel is delighted with the partnership: "We are delighted to continue to have EDEKA at our side. EDEKA is not only an important partner for our tournament, but also a significant supporter of the diversity of sport in Hamburg. Together, we can further increase the visibility and appreciation of women's sport."

The MSC Hamburg Ladies Open will once again bring world-class women's tennis to the Rothenbaum for the fifth time in a row, including the German number one, Eva Lys from Hamburg.

EDEKA - Germany's most successful entrepreneurial initiative:
The profile of the EDEKA Group, which is characterised by medium-sized companies and cooperatives, is based on the successful interplay of three levels: Nationwide, around 3,200 independent retailers give EDEKA a face. At the retail level, they take on the role of local suppliers who stand for food quality and enjoyment. They are supported by seven regional wholesalers who deliver fresh goods to the EDEKA stores every day and are also on hand to assist with everything from sales to expansion issues. The EDEKA strategy is coordinated at the EDEKA head office in Hamburg. It manages the national goods business as well as the successful "Wir ♥ Lebensmittel" campaign and provides a variety of impulses for the realisation of cross-network goals. With its subsidiary Netto Marken-Discount, it also sets successful trends in the discount business. Speciality retail formats such as trinkgut, budni and NATURKIND, cooperation with online-based delivery services such as Picnic and the bulk consumer business with EDEKA Foodservice round off the group's broad range of services. In 2024, EDEKA generated sales of 75.3 billion euros with around 10,859 stores and around 413,000 employees. With more than 19,200 trainees, EDEKA is one of the leading trainers in Germany.
