Update about the Hamburg European Open

Hamburg (April 15, 2020) – Following the announcement by the Conference of Minister-Presidents that no major events are allowed to take place in Germany until at least August 31, 2020, the organizers of the Hamburg European Open 2020 are now entering into an intensive exchange with the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, German Tennis Federation (DTB) and the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). All options regarding the implementation of the 114th edition of the most traditional German tennis tournament in 2020 will be discussed. The original plan is to host the clay court tournament of the ATP 500 category from July 11th to 19th.

“We are in close contact with all of our partners and examine all possible scenarios. We are discussing with the ATP above all about the possibility of a postponement to a calendar date in September. In addition, we are also in intensive exchange with the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and will coordinate closely in every respect, ” tournament director Sandra Reichel said.
